Singular Patagonia

A former cold-storage plant houses this 57-room heritage hotel, located near Puerto Natales. Since Chile has strict conservation rules, the hotel architect left the original external brickwork intact and installed a funicular to take guests down from the hotel entrance to the reception area. The hotel restaurant and bar, carved from a cavernous chamber, is known for its octopus and king crab specialties. Edwardian style rooms feature mahogany writing desks, brass lamps, and sepia prints. The hotel also features a private collection of equipment and artifacts. The Singular is located about 3 miles outside Puerto Natales on a remote stretch of waterfront land.
